NOAA.gov National Oceanographic & Atmospheric Administration (My personal, best recommendation on accurate weather reporting. Fun stuff too, if you're into weather).
All Things Digital Photography Oriented:
Rob Galbraith, Digital Wizard (I'm guessing the folks at Rob Galbraith probably spend way too much time in an underground bunker surveying all things known and unknown relevant to digital phenomena. But if you want the straight skinny concerning the realm, they're your source).
Professional Photography Equipment:
KEH is the largest provider of new and used, professional, pro-sumer, and amateur photography equipment in the world. Their exceptional, technical knowledge and patient, thorough communication style in distilling hard-science into layman's terms is second to none.
B & H Photo-Video in Manhattan, is also an excellent resource for new and used professional to consumer photography equipment. Pricing being a function of varying market conditions, they're not bad.
Adorama is a third, reputable resource for professional photography equipment.
Professional Digital Imaging Software & Tutorials:
For pure, pragmatic genius in professional, high-end, digital imaging software, Adobe Corporation's software represents 7,000 years of acute, mathematical brilliance. If you care to distill the three dimensional world into two dimensional visuals, they're the folks that wear the pointy wizard hats and conjur up the algorithms that let you do it. As for integrating the fourth dimension into their software, just give them a little time. It wouldn't surprise me.
For Apple/Macintosh users who wish to edit films, final cut pro replaced Avid several years back as the editing suite of choice for professionals. As for Apple Corporation itself, it's a wonder they don't yet own the planet. But then, perhaps they do, and they're simply clever enough to make the rest of us believe otherwise.
